General & Family Physician, Dr. Ina Zaimi's Response
Hello dear,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Healthcare Magic. I understand your concern.
ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) is non-specific test that is used to help detect inflammation associated with conditions such as infections or autoimmune diseases. Your ESR level is high, and my impression is due to an inflammation. As I mentioned ESR is a non-specific marker of inflammation and it is affected by a lot of other factors, and for a correct interpretation the results must be used along with other clinical findings, such as your health history, and results from other laboratory tests, such as for example C-reactive protein. Regarding the other parameters, they are all normal, but let me explain briefly what they represent. Reticulocyte Count indicates whether enough red blood cells are being produced in the bone marrow. Methylmalonic Acid(MMA) test is ordered to help diagnose an early or mild B12 deficiency, which could lead to an megaloblastic anemia.
Hope my answer helped you. For further concerns feel free to ask again.
Take Care, Dr. Ina
